Representative Eddie Lucio III was born and raised in Brownsville, Texas, where he practices law and lives with his family. He is the son of State Senator & Mrs. Eddie Lucio, Jr., and is married to Jaime Barrera Lucio of Brownsville. He and his wife welcomed their first child, Olivia Rose, in August of 2009.

He attended Texas Tech University on an athletic scholarship and later received a B.B.A. from the University of Texas at Austin. In 2005, he received his Doctorate of Jurisprudence from the University of Texas School of Law.
